Avantis still buys from Oracle

Oracle Polska informed, that Avantis company started working on the implementation of cluster option, which would broaden the range of opportunities of IT company platform which at present covers three databases Oracle Standard Edition and one data base in Enterprise Edition version. An extended information technology system is necessary to serve growing number of data base transactions, extending from time to time 80 million operations monthly.

Avantis was founded in December 2000 as a consulting company in the field of technologies connected with mobile phones. Nowadays, it is one of the leading mobile value-added services providers in Poland mainly for GSM operators, but also for other companies aiming at contact with their clients via cordless channels. A classical example of services provided by Avantis are MVAS services (Mobile Value Added Services), which enable, among others, organising popular SMS contests, lotteries or chats. Another type of services offered by Avantis platform is settlement of payments effected through SMS, MMS, WAP or voice Premium.

Oracle data bases started to exist in Avantis company IT systems at the beginning of the company’s activity, initially as one of several technologies being implemented. Since 2002, the company standardises on Oracle technology, gradually increasing its presence in company infrastructure. At present, the Avantis company technological platform consists of three data bases which handle current transactions and one base which serves to produce reports and business analyses, and in which a warehouse operates including about two milliard records.

The transaction bases will soon be linked by Oracle Real Application Clusters software. The cluster option is being implemented by company IT specialists. The Oracle data base infrastructure is not only an executive platform for defined and active services, but it also enables testing new solutions introduced into the market by GSM operators, such as SMS MT type payments or services taking advantage of so called photo-codes.

A real strength of our company is the possibility of integrating a lot of communication channels, such as SMS, MMS, WAP, voice/IVR as well as WWW and e-mail within one service. This enables our business partners provided with our solutions to choose the most suitable channels of communication with their users or clients”, explains Artur Witan, the Vice-chairman of Avantis SA Management. "The popularity of mobile value-added services makes our platform serve a considerable number of transactions, which may be handled only by the best data base technology; therefore, we chose Oracle”.

As Tomasz Matoszka, Avantis SA IT Director adds: “data base system of our company is being developed by the cluster option; it aims at the increase of system reliability and scalability, as well as server load optimising”.
