Advertisements can be met everywhere, in press, TV, radio, Internet… Even if we are walking in our town the billboards are everywhere, more and more sophisticated.
Can mobile phone be an effective advertisement agent? Why not? Displays of mobile phones are equally functional as our computer monitor or billboard surface. Our consumer not always watches "proper" programme in TV at proper time, not always buys a newspaper with an advertisement of our product, not always has radio on and sometimes does not have time to surf in the Internet. It means that large part of advertising using traditional media never reaches consumer!
Every potential consumer is in contact with media for about 6 hours a day what is a mixture of different media during whole day. Mobile phone wins with all these traditional media because its availability is at the level of 18 hours a day.
Mobile advertising (advertisement in the mobile phone) is a NEXT GENERATION advertising. This is a precisely profiled target group. A market of advertising via mobile phone was born a couple years ago but it has a great future.
In Poland the “third display” (mobile phone display) advertising is on the stage of active development, its potential is increasing simultaneously with increase of consciousness and expanding the resources of mobile Internet (WAP). The idea was born when from the one hand the number of mobile phone users reached particular level and, from the other hand, more and more entities started to appreciate the value of own WAP pages. Polish market reached over 109% of sold SIM cards what means that every Pole has at least one mobile terminal. It is over 39mln of reachable clients.
A way of connecting the user, his phone and properly pointed advertising information is mentioned mobile advertising. During downloading to the mobile phone a purchased multimedia element – wallpaper or game, the system will display full screen graphic advertisement. It is not intrusive or irritating, especially that advertisement is usually accompanied with some extra bonus for the user. It can be additional game, discount coupon or commercial content, movie trailer or encouragement for interaction in a form of contest. Mobile advertising has strong branding influence and the receiver can hardly avoid reading displayed advertising message.
One has to pay special attention to the fact that every response to the advertisement is measured and is a base for detailed reports to the advertiser.
